Ballyscullion Book Festival

by | May 12, 2025 | Concerts | 0 comments

When: 11 May 2025 at 5:00 pm

Any day where we get to sing is a great day and this was no exception! Choir members appeared from the Ballymena, Ballymoney, Jordanstown, Derry/Londonderry & Coleraine and Portstewart choirs led by their choir leader rachel coulter. For some newer members, this was their first time performing live with the choir! rachel was immensely pleased with the performance and that everyone was getting to perform in the local community. The event was FREE.

We were performing inside. We can’t remember what the weather was doing on the day but everyone was thrilled to be there to sing together. Some members made a day of it arriving hours before the performance and engaging in a little local retail therapy, additionally this concert featured members from a lot of local choirs and it took some time for the members to get into position in their harmony parts! Friends and family of the choir members filled the audience, creating an atmosphere of warmth and support. The choir performed songs from their recent repertoire such as ‘Mountain’ by Sam Ryder along with the wonderful ‘Learn to Fly’ by Foo Fighters. This show was raising awareness and funds for None. Huge thanks to everyone who helped.

Performance location: 61 Ballyscullion Rd, Bellaghy, Magherafelt BT45 8NA

Here’s a quote about the choir – ‘I wanted to see if I could sing in a choir after being inspired by the ‘Choir that Rocks’ TV programmes in the Summer of 2011 and joined the new Bedford RC after a taster session. I am very proud of the choir and I find rehearsals inspiring as people are so friendly and the singing so uplifting.’ – Jim (Rock Choir Member)
