There is an old Swedish proverb the says ‘Those who wish to sing always find a song’ and as amateurs pursuing our passion it was a pleasure to do this performance for the local community. Choir members appeared from the Sutton, Croydon, Purley, Caterham, Oxted, High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross & Chiswick choirs. Leading them, was their amazing choir leader Valerie Turnbull. Some new choir members were appearing onstage for the very first time! Well done to them! Valerie wants to say how proud of everyone they are. The performance was FREE.
We were performing inside. We can’t remember what the weather was doing on the day but everyone was thrilled to be there to sing together. A good few members arrived very early due the excitement of performing and this concert featured members from a lot of local choirs and it took some time for the members to get into position in their harmony parts! It was awesome to see a great number of friends and relatives were in attendance. The choir performed songs from their recent repertoire such as ‘Shake a Tailfeather’ from the Blues Brothers movie along with the wonderful ‘Best Of My Love’ by The Emotions. Beyond the enchanting music, this performance had another purpose. It was organized in aid of Cancer Research. Many thanks go to the prefects who were there on the day helping.
