What a fantastic day it was at the Flowerfield Big Sing! Our community choirs from Coleraine, Derry/L'Derry, and Portstewart, led by the ever-enthusiastic Jonathan Bailie, brought joy and harmony to the audience, who responded with warm applause and even some dancing from the little ones. It was heartwarming to see families and friends supporting our singers, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with smiles and camaraderie. Despite the looming rain clouds, we were grateful to perform indoors, allowing us to focus entirely on the music without worrying about the weather. Some dedicated choir members arrived hours early to prepare, and it was lovely to see familiar faces from nearby choirs joining in the fun. The setlist was a delightful mix of well-known favorites that had everyone singing along. Highlights included the powerful "The Power of Love," the heartfelt "Someone You Loved," and the timeless "A Thousand Years," among others. Each song resonated beautifully, showcasing the talent and passion of our singers. Beyond the enchanting music, this event was organized in aid of the Northern Ireland Mental Health Arts Festival, a cause that aims to promote mental health awareness and well-being through the arts. It was a privilege to contribute to such an important initiative while sharing our love of singing. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success. We can't wait for the next opportunity to make music together!Performance location: Flowerfield Arts Centre, 185 Coleraine Rd, Portstewart BT55 7PL

Here is a quote about our choir – ‘I joined Rock Choir after being made redundant and being out of work for a year, so was feeling fairly low. Immediately I was greeted like an old friend and made to feel welcome. Since then I have gone on to meet new friends, have a great time every week and culminating to doing a solo at a local festival. If you’d have said to me a year ago I’d have the confidence to not only sing in front of people, but do a solo, I’d have told you not to be so silly. Rock Choir has become a v important part of my life, for the better.’ – Alex (Rock Choir member)
