The recent Houghton Feast concert was a delightful celebration of music and community, featuring members from the Sunderland choir under the expert guidance of their inspiring leader, Rob Slater. It was a joy to see so many singers, including some performing for the very first time, come together to share their passion for music. Rob praised the choir, noting, "The choir members did so well, everyone was truly professional in their performance and deserved to be up there." The atmosphere was electric, with the audience clapping and cheering, creating a warm and inviting environment. Despite the cloudy skies, the excitement was palpable as choir members arrived early, eager to take the stage and perhaps add a touch of glitter to their outfits. Family and friends turned out in great numbers, lending their support and amplifying the community spirit that Rock Choir embodies. A few members from nearby choirs also joined in, making the event even more special. The setlist was a fantastic mix of well-loved tunes that had everyone singing along. From the uplifting melodies of “Lean on Me” to the energetic rhythms of “Shout,” and even the timeless classic “Let It Be,” the concert showcased a range of genres that resonated with all ages. The singers truly brought these songs to life, with smiles lighting up their faces as they performed. This free event not only entertained but also supported a wonderful cause. **STOP PRESS** Rock Choir, the largest contemporary choir in the world is set to release their brand-new single ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ on Friday 21st March. The single features the Founder of Rock Choir, Caroline Redman Lusher along with the voices of over 6000 Rock Choir Members.
The single will be performed for the first time on national TV on the day of release and broadcast to the entire nation on BBC1 as part of the Comic Relief ‘Red Nose Day’ show. This will be the biggest choir performance the show has ever hosted and will be an emotional and poignant moment with a few surprises thrown in!
The track, which was originally performed by Keane was recorded over several months when it was performed by Rock Choir Members in the audience of a recent sold-out theatre tour which toured across the UK in 2024 led by Caroline and The Rock Choir Vocal Group. The audience became part of the show and enjoyed a fully interactive singing concert experience.
