What a fantastic day it was for the Sunderland choir at the Houghton Feast! Led by the ever-enthusiastic Rob Slater, our choir took the stage, and for many of our newer members, it was their very first live performance. The excitement was palpable as we shared our love of singing with the local community, and the best part? It was all completely FREE! Though we can't quite recall the weather, the atmosphere was filled with joy and camaraderie. Some members arrived early to indulge in a little local retail therapy, while others from nearby choirs joined us to lend their voices. Seeing so many friends and family in the audience, clapping and cheering, made our hearts swell with pride. We belted out a vibrant selection of crowd-pleasers, including the timeless classic "Sweet Child of Mine," the uplifting "Green Green Grass," and the nostalgic "Video Killed the Radio Star." Our repertoire also featured the festive spirit of "What Christmas Means To Me" by Stevie Wonder and the dance anthem "Flashdance...What A Feeling" by Irene Cara. Each note brought smiles and even a few happy tears from the audience, making it a truly memorable experience. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success. **STOP PRESS** Rock Choir, the largest contemporary choir in the world is set to release their brand-new single ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ on Friday 21st March. The single features the Founder of Rock Choir, Caroline Redman Lusher along with the voices of over 6000 Rock Choir Members.
The single will be performed for the first time on national TV on the day of release and broadcast to the entire nation on BBC1 as part of the Comic Relief ‘Red Nose Day’ show. This will be the biggest choir performance the show has ever hosted and will be an emotional and poignant moment with a few surprises thrown in!
The track, which was originally performed by Keane was recorded over several months when it was performed by Rock Choir Members in the audience of a recent sold-out theatre tour which toured across the UK in 2024 led by Caroline and The Rock Choir Vocal Group. The audience became part of the show and enjoyed a fully interactive singing concert experience.
