What a fantastic day it was for singing! Our recent concert for Marie Curie Day of Reflection was an absolute joy, bringing together the vibrant voices of the Ballyhackamore Late and Holywood Late choirs, all under the inspiring leadership of our wonderful choir director, Sophie Giraudeau. Sophie expressed immense pride in our community, celebrating the spirit of togetherness that makes every performance special. Best of all, this event was free for everyone to attend! Although we can’t quite recall if the weather was on our side, the excitement inside was undeniable, with so many members arriving hours early, eager to share the joy of music. The warmth from friends and family in the audience created an uplifting atmosphere, with clapping and cheering echoing throughout as we filled the space with song. We had the pleasure of performing an array of popular hits that got everyone moving, including the lively “Shake a Tailfeather” from the Blues Brothers and the heartfelt “Green Green Grass” by George Ezra. Our repertoire also featured classics like “Go Your Own Way,” “She Will Be Loved,” and “For Once in My Life.” Each note carried the spirit of community and joy, making it a night to remember. This concert not only showcased our love for music but also raised awareness and funds for the incredible work of Marie Curie, which provides essential care and support for those living with terminal illness. **STOP PRESS** Rock Choir, the largest contemporary choir in the world is set to release their brand-new single ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ on Friday 21st March. The single features the Founder of Rock Choir, Caroline Redman Lusher along with the voices of over 6000 Rock Choir Members.
The single will be performed for the first time on national TV on the day of release and broadcast to the entire nation on BBC1 as part of the Comic Relief ‘Red Nose Day’ show. This will be the biggest choir performance the show has ever hosted and will be an emotional and poignant moment with a few surprises thrown in!
The track, which was originally performed by Keane was recorded over several months when it was performed by Rock Choir Members in the audience of a recent sold-out theatre tour which toured across the UK in 2024 led by Caroline and The Rock Choir Vocal Group. The audience became part of the show and enjoyed a fully interactive singing concert experience.
