What a fantastic day it was for the Abingdon, Didcot, Oxford, Wantage, and Witney choirs! The Mitchell Williams + Friends Concert at The Beacon brought together singers from all corners of the community, and the atmosphere was nothing short of electric. Our talented choir leader, Krisha Kaye, proudly led the ensemble, guiding both seasoned performers and eager newcomers as they took the stage for what would be an unforgettable experience. As we gathered, the excitement was palpable. Some choir members arrived hours early, ready to soak in the joy of singing together. The audience was filled with family and friends, all clapping along and cheering with delight. Even though we can’t quite recall if it was sunny or drizzly outside, the warmth of community spirit filled the hall, making it the perfect environment for our melodies to soar. The concert showcased a delightful mix of well-known songs that had everyone tapping their feet. From the rocking vibes of “Sweet Child O’Mine” to the uplifting notes of “Make Your Own Kind of Music,” the first half set a lively tone. The second half brought us “Roll With It” and the heartfelt “Somewhere Only We Know,” wrapping up the evening on a high note. It was a true treat to see the audience engage, with smiles all around as we sang our hearts out. Beyond the enchanting music, this recital had another purpose. It was organized in aid of the Wantage, Grove and District Twinning Association, which works tirelessly to promote friendship and cultural exchange in our community. Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to this wonderful event! **STOP PRESS** Rock Choir, the largest contemporary choir in the world is set to release their brand-new single ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ on Friday 21st March. The single features the Founder of Rock Choir, Caroline Redman Lusher along with the voices of over 6000 Rock Choir Members.
The single will be performed for the first time on national TV on the day of release and broadcast to the entire nation on BBC1 as part of the Comic Relief ‘Red Nose Day’ show. This will be the biggest choir performance the show has ever hosted and will be an emotional and poignant moment with a few surprises thrown in!
The track, which was originally performed by Keane was recorded over several months when it was performed by Rock Choir Members in the audience of a recent sold-out theatre tour which toured across the UK in 2024 led by Caroline and The Rock Choir Vocal Group. The audience became part of the show and enjoyed a fully interactive singing concert experience.
