On a beautiful day this past March, the talented choirs from Abingdon, Didcot, Oxford, Wantage, and Witney gathered for the much-anticipated Mitchell Williams + Friends Concert at The Beacon. Under the enthusiastic direction of our wonderful choir leader, Krisha Kaye, the event was a heartfelt celebration of community spirit and musical joy. The performance brought together voices from across the region, creating a rich tapestry of sound that resonated through the venue. With family and friends filling the seats, the atmosphere was electric, filled with clapping and smiles as we all joined together in song. Though some may have felt the nerves of getting into their harmony parts, the camaraderie and support from loved ones made it a memorable experience for everyone involved. Our repertoire was a delightful mix of genres, kicking off with classics like “Sweet Child O’Mine” and “Make Your Own Kind of Music.” The energy soared as we transitioned into the second half with uplifting hits like “Roll With It” and “Somewhere Only We Know.” Each note carried the warmth of shared passion, leaving the audience buzzing with excitement. In addition to the fantastic music, the concert also raised awareness and funds for the Wantage, Grove and District Twinning Association, an organization dedicated to fostering connections between communities locally and internationally. Their work helps to create lasting friendships and cultural exchanges, enriching our community. A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support this event and to all the choir members who poured their hearts into every performance. **STOP PRESS** Rock Choir, the largest contemporary choir in the world is set to release their brand-new single ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ on Friday 21st March. The single features the Founder of Rock Choir, Caroline Redman Lusher along with the voices of over 6000 Rock Choir Members.
The single will be performed for the first time on national TV on the day of release and broadcast to the entire nation on BBC1 as part of the Comic Relief ‘Red Nose Day’ show. This will be the biggest choir performance the show has ever hosted and will be an emotional and poignant moment with a few surprises thrown in!
The track, which was originally performed by Keane was recorded over several months when it was performed by Rock Choir Members in the audience of a recent sold-out theatre tour which toured across the UK in 2024 led by Caroline and The Rock Choir Vocal Group. The audience became part of the show and enjoyed a fully interactive singing concert experience.
